Official Course Description:
The Natural Science Lab Units in Mathematics and ACM will introduce the computer as a tool for the working mathematician, as well as for scientists in many other fields.

The Lab Unit Numerical Software introduces Scientific Python, a stack of scientific software packages for scientific computing. The software provides a high-level environment for numerical work such as solving differential equations, optimization, Linear Algebra, or analyzing large amounts of laboratory data. The computer will be used as a tool in this course so that you will also learn some mathematics alongside learning to use the software. This Lab Unit is particularly suited for students from all majors who are interested in experiments, as Scientific Python is emerging as a flexible and powerful platform for analyzing and visualizing data in many fields of research.
